I love las vegas

ever since i went to vegas for work in sept 2008, i've not been able to get it out of my mind. I love the desert, the lights, the glamour, the excitement...and I love the vintage vegas style. I've studied the history of the area and collected a bunch of vintage photos. Vegas' past glitz and style have mesmerized me... I've been back twice on my own since then. I have two more trips in the planning stages - four nights over the new years eve holiday and four more nights in april for the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly 13. my artwork in progress now reflects that obsession. I hope you find it as exciting as I do. I posted a very small sneak peak in my last post.

oh my head. today was the 2nd longest day at work ever. ever. we had a 6.30 am critique meeting. we got lots of things approved, so it was a productive morning.

I was glad to get to come home this afternoon.

I am working on a new drawing. I have some exciting ideas for it. Here's a little sneak preview.

thought I'd share some of my older drawings. This one is from a long time ago when I worked for a magazine. it was a cover illustration. It is an ink washing painting. it is intentionally contrasty because we had a crappy old dinosaur of a process camera to shoot with.

I believe she was miss detroit. Not sure now, it was a long time ago.

Just got back from Vegas...

my sister and I just got back from vegas. we went out there to celebrate our birthdays. we stayed at the luxor on the south strip. we played a little, lost a little, won a little, drank a little, shopped a little.

we rode the manhanttan express roller coaster at newyork newyork. it was scary fun. we went to freemont street and gambled in one of the old casinos. I think I like that area better than the strip. I've taken to collecting photos of vintage vegas now, have several posted on my facebook gallery. same name if you wanna go look.

I'll be back to vegas next april for viva 13.

think I'll have fresh melon with cafe au lait (my version - strong coffee, splenda and 30% cream), sit on the porch and draw sexy girls.

My designs on Florists Review magazine.

I designed the planter that is featured on the cover of this month's Florists' Review Magazine.

This is my second product to make Florist's Review Magazine, but my first to make the cover shot.

I have to go to the SuperFloral show tomorrow. It is at the GA World Congress Center in Atlanta.  I've never been before, it changes cities every year and this is its first year in ATL. one billion sq ft of flowers and flower pots. oh yea, and toss in some balloons. Anagram, CTI, Betallic, bB - they'll all be there.  It'll be nice to visit with them and see their new stuff.
